Today is our last day in Barcelona before we head off to Sevilla tomorrow. I kept hearing over and over that in Spain, dressing up is the norm. People only wear shorts when they're working out, rarely wear jeans, and make sure they look good in public. I didn't want to be a really obvious tourist, so my outfits for our jaunt in Spain are a little dressier than I would normally go on vacation, but still light, easy, and comfortable for the heat. I love this particular tank/skirt combo because it can be easily dressed down for a day of walking around, or dressed up for the dinner & flamenco show we're hitting up tomorrow night.
Whenever I buy skirts from Loft, I actually go a size down so they sit at my natural waist instead of on my hips. It's a much more flattering look for my body type.
I hope you're having a great day!

I do that sometimes too! Depending on the shape of the skirt, I'm much better off going for a natural waist line.
ReplyDeleteWow, where did you hear that dressing up is the norm in Spain? That is an enormous lie. At least for the places I've lived! Jeans are pretty ubiquitous, thank goodness. Not that you can't dress up a little - I do it too! Not usually in summer, because it's hot as hell and I can barely get dressed at all, but sometimes, because I like it... and I always feel like I stick out a little.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous outfit though. I was just like, "wait, what?????" when I saw your first line, haha.
Oh hay, I have the very same skirt. It's one of my faves for work and play.. it looks great on you. Hope you are enjoying your trip!
ReplyDeleteI wish they still had this skirt- I love the color and style!
ReplyDeleteReally pretty skirt - love the style!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about going down a size so the skirt sits differently. I'll have to try it! I love this look. I remember hearing the same thing before I left for study abroad in Paris. While it was true that people didn't wear tennis shoes and athletic coats (think: Northface) were nonexistent, I did see jeans everywhere. I'm curious if Spain lives up to the hype! Hope you're having a great time!

Thanks Hope!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaitlyn!
ReplyDeleteSo I had heard that jeans were the norm, but the same thing about shoes and athletic wear. In the touristy areas people were dressed down, but after a day of hiking in sneakers we went into a non-touristy area and I felt suuuuuuper out of place.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel!
ReplyDeleteOoo it's one of my favorites too, I wear it all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh I knew that jeans were the norm, I meant more in terms of wearing sneakers and "athletic-y" clothes. We went out to lunch after a morning of hiking in sneakers and shorts, and I felt way underdressed. If it had been a little less hot I would have felt very comfortable in jeans.
ReplyDeleteOh good glad I'm not the only one ;) It's just much more flattering!
