Dress (Similar) - Old Navy / Cardigan - Gap Factory / Necklace (similar) and Bag (similar) - JCrew Factory (both gifts) / Bracelet - Michael Kors
When we were down in Austin a couple of weeks ago, I had to go to a rehearsal dinner with a very confusing dress code. They sent us a formal invitation to the dinner, which would suggest it would be dressy like most rehearsal dinners, but then the groom told us not to dress up and that he was just going to wear jeans. I didn't really know what to do, so I went dead middle with a casual knit dress and cardigan that I dressed up with accessories. It ended up being the perfect decision, there were some girls in really formal dresses and heels and others in jeans (and one woman in a cowboy hat and fanny pack), so I ended up feeling super comfortable with my choice. What's great about this combo is that it would also be perfectly appropriate at work or church, and with a different color cardigan could work in the spring too. If spring ever comes that is, lately it won't stop snowing! I usually like the snow, but after last winter I'm not sure I'll ever be cool with snow again.

I love black+blue so much. This outfit is so simple yet totally cute with that gorgeous necklace who elevates it more. I need a cobalt cardigan.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Kristina!
WTF? You did an excellent job of maneuvering that weird dress code!

Beautiful color cardigan. Cobalt is one of my favorite colors. Not to mention, what a stunning color combination with your hair color. You look adorable. Love this post.

Glad this outfit worked for evening! how awkward to have an undefined dress code. I would have done the same thing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely hate that! A formal invite but then someone says "Oh don't get overly dressed, come on, I'm wearing (insert casual item of clothing here)" but you handled the situation gracefully and oh so stylish-ly! Love the dress and you're right, more color cardis for the springtime for sure!

Yes! Going for the in between look is usually what I do in cases like this, and you got it perfect! Love that pretty necklace!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit was absolutely perfect! I'm not usually one for big statement pieces, but I love your necklace. It's chunky and yet subtle against that dress at the same time.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfits. Love your hair

A person with a fanny pack?! Goodness gracious..only in Texas right? Loving the necklace!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, you are so dang cute, Kristina! I love your hair like this, and it looks striking against your blue cardigan. I tend to get irrationally anxious about dress codes (like, I'm a wreck before starting a new job because I never know what to wear, weddings stress me out, I hate going to non-casual restaurants, etc.), so I totally get what you mean about feeling confused about the dress code for the rehearsal dinner! I usually try to meet somewhere in the middle for such occasions, too...and this time, you hit the nail on the head perfectly! You look amazing!
