Weekend Vibes

When you live in Chicago, you never quite count on spring. Some years it shows up, and some years we hop straight from winter to summer. I am eternally grateful that it's no longer snowing, but we've been having beautiful days mixed in with days that jump into the 80's. I've been so impatient to break out my summer accessories, like this cute circle straw bag, so one weekend when it was still chilly I decided to say "screw it." Jeans, a jacket, and a straw bag it would have to be.

These circular straw bags have been all over the place this season, and for good reason. They're so cute, and while they might have been relegated to just the beach in years past, now they're showing up everywhere! This particular bag is a dupe for the Clare V Alice tote which basically sold out immediately last year when it showed up (I bought the smaller version as a gift to myself after Christmas), and while the exact one I bought also sold out, I've been seeing similar versions everywhere at great price points. I'd be remiss to ignore the unsung hero of this outfit - the perfect white tee shirt. I've been buying these tees from J. Crew Factory for years now, and they're definitely my favorite. I mean, hello, it's a white tee that isn't see through at all! My rec for these tees is to buy one or two sizes up (I went up to an XXL here!) because they do shrink in the wash. I love pairing white tees with a simple casual look like I'm doing here, but they're also great for wearing with patterned skirts or shorts.

I've been keeping things pretty casual in real life lately, like this outfit, because Jeff and I are currently up at my sister's house baby sitting for our niece Mae while my sister has her second baby! I've never babysat for that long before, and Jeff and I can't decide if we'll end up being incredibly lax or super strict as we try to let Mae see that we're definitely in charge and obviously 100% know what we're doing.
